Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998

Hodge Plant Ltd has a very reputable reputation of servicing a wide range of construction equipment including and not limited to tracked and wheeled excavators, loading shovels, articulated dump trucks, dozers, graders, skid steer loaders and backhoe loaders.

These Regulations (often abbreviated to LOLER) place duties on people and companies who own, operate or have control over lifting equipment. This includes all businesses and organisations whose employees use lifting equipment, whether owned by them or not. In most cases, lifting equipment is also work equipment so the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) will also apply (including inspection and maintenance).

LOLER also requires that all equipment used for lifting is fit for purpose, appropriate for the task, suitably marked and, in many cases, subject to statutory periodic ‘thorough examination’. Records must be kept of all thorough examinations and any defects found must be reported to both the person responsible for the equipment and the relevant enforcing authority.

Upon completion of an inspection you will be presented with a copy of the report and if the machine is in a satisfactory condition a sticker will be fitted which also indicates the due date of the next examination and a certificate will be issued.

For further information regarding your legal duties please visit the HEALTH & SAFETY EXECUTIVES WEBSITE.

Please contact our Service Manager Craig on +44 (0) 1698 829159 SERVICE@HODGEPLANT.COMto discuss your servicing requirements.
